Fish, humans and the earth itself benefit from healthy, well-maintained ponds.
OK, you now live on a pond! What next? This publication is a great resource to help you
understand your pond, and how you may work towards making it a valuable asset to your home, the
community and the earth itself.
The ponds in St. James can be used for fishing, attracting birds and other wildlife, or just enjoying the serenity of having a pond in your backyard. Unlike creeks and streams that flow, ponds are primarily stationary bodies of water. With heavy rain, water becomes a moving force as it takes the path of least resistance by running downhill and carrying loose soil with it. If the banks of your pond are not stabilized, they can become casualties of erosion.
St James Plantation offers excellent fishing in numerous ponds throughout the community. Some of the ponds with community access have been enhanced through fish stocking and efforts to improve the habitat and health of the ponds.
Our ponds are a valuable asset, helping protect our
community from flood waters and run off from tropical weather.
Eager to get started with your new pond, or looking to better the pond
you have lived on for years? These are proven resources for all of your pond needs.
